5 Reasons Why Your Emails are Being Ignored

By Lloyd Silver

Are you starting to feel as though your emails are being set aside in your contacts inbox? Do you constantly worry that the time you spend creating emails is taking over your day to day operations? If you are, worry no more. With so many consumers opting in for emails with every business they interact with their inboxes are being flooded with unnecessary information. So how do you make your emails stand out from the crowd? The answer involves a lot of aspects that when combined make your recipients actually look forward to your emails. To simplify things we created a list of the top 5 reasons why your emails are being ignored.

Reason #1: Poorly Focused Subject Line

A subject line is the most important aspect when it comes to email. You want to squeeze as much in as you can but not give away the point of the email. To get the most out of them include a personalization aspect, mutual event, important aspect, or a goal.

Reason #2: Incorrect Timing for Your Audience

Most of the time common sense points toward sending an email during the week at a time around mid-to-late afternoon. But the problem is that this is only true when it comes to business focused emails. When you’re sending out emails on events or products the best time to send an email is during the weekend. If you have to send it on a weekday try to aim for some time around 8am.

Reason #3: No Value

Sending an email to just send an email is not a good way to stay in contact with your recipients. By sending random emails with no purpose you start to degrade the legitimacy of your message. Have a clear purpose and value for each email sent.

Reason #4: Leaving No Signature

A signature is necessary when it comes to sending emails and expecting a quick response.  By adding a signature with a company logo, phone number, and other ways to connect you provide the recipient with information that presents you as a credible source.

Reason #5: Too Much Information

If you’re sending out 200 word emails to your recipients without them asking for detailed information, you’re doing too much. While writing emails your need to remember that most people read their emails on a smartphone. To make information easy to consume use images and bullet points whenever the opportunity presents itself.

So many emails are sent each day, but barley anyone spends more than 30 seconds on each before moving onto the next. By correcting the most common mistakes above you can expect to start seeing more and more responses in regards to your emails.
