Every time we are introduced to a new practice or methodology we like to find out what it takes to both implement it and become successful with it. With inbound marketing implementation is simple, but success takes time as you fine tune your skills to ensure that you are enticing the best leads. To help out we wanted to review some of the basics of inbound marketing so that you can become successful as soon as possible.
The first thing that you should implement when kicking off your inbound marketing campaign is personas. By creating a persona for each of your potential customers you ensure that you target each content offer precisely. This will make it easier for you to generate content down the road and also assist with finding even better potential customers.
After you create personas for each of your potential customers you need to come up with a list of keywords you can use in your content. Keywords will help you stay on track with terms that your personas use along with assisting in SEO.
Once you have created your target persona and created a list of keywords for that persona you’re ready to start blogging! It might seem like a simple task but in fact blogging takes a lot of work to wreak the most benefit. First you have to generate a topic that you know will peak the interest of your potential readers. Once you have that topic generated you can start writing the post. But be careful with the kind of words that you use. If you start using terms that your readers will not normally use or understand you will deter them from continuing. Do your best to keep the post simple and to the point, somewhere around 500 words. This length is perfect for your reader’s attention span while also creating an SEO benefit.
It doesn’t stop there. After writing the blog you will need to create calls-to-action and content offers that pertain to the corresponding blog post. By creating both calls-to-action and content offers you will be able to gather information from a potentially hot lead. This then provides your sales team with the necessary information to convert that lead into a customer down the road.
Lastly to succeed with inbound marketing you must be a social media wizard. Sharing company updates, blog articles, and offers is key to driving traffic to your website. Simply sharing a link will not entice your followers, you must be creative. Adding photos, infographics, videos, and quotes will help your posts stand out from the others in their feeds.
Remember, traffic can convert to leads, which then convert to customers; that is the most basic concept of inbound marketing. All this is done successfully with the use of personas, keywords, blogs, content, and proper sharing.
